UIC is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our Office of Student Systems Services team. This position supports any Information Technology technical issues within the Academic and Enrollment Services and other academic support units. Also installs computers, printers, office equipment, hardware, and software.


Duties & Responsibilities:


System Maintenance and Technical Support:

  • Set up computers, printers, scanners, and fax and copy machines. Accept internal help requests and determine if issues can be resolved locally
  • Upgrade equipment software as needed.
  • Create shared drive access for users.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 1 years of professional IT experience within IT Support Services which includes demonstrated experience providing enduser technical and troubleshooting support with computer hardware, software and classroom technologies within desktop and networking environments via, telephone, ticketing systems and/or onsite resolution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Group Policy Management, SCCM and server management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree inprogress or awarded in Computer Science or related field
  • Knowledge of the systems and operations used within the areas and departments of responsibility.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills. Strong independent work ethic and time management. Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate activities of user groups.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and professionally interact with all staff levels and customer groups.
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical problems.
  • Ability to demonstrate fundamental knowledge of effective troubleshooting methodologies.
