    Community Housing Support Specialist - Swing Shift
    Young Adult Transitions TeamHiring Range: $ $ 27.78 per hour

    General Summary of Duties: The Housing Support Specialist empowers, educates, teaches, and assists young adults who are residents of Evergreen Bright Start housing. This position helps these residents, many of whom will be experiencing complex behavioral health challenges, to develop skills that will allow for progression toward and maintenance of the residents' highest possible level of independent functioning.

    The Housing Support Specialist improves the operations of KMHS in support of its stated mission and provides the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.

    This position may require driving to various meetings, client appointments, shopping, and other client-related activities.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: None

    Major Responsibilities/Tasks:
    • Assist in coordinating, improving and implementing agency treatment philosophy, program goals and activities. Provide a therapeutic environment per program standards and housing supportive goals, including locating housing, skills-development and transportation of residents as required.
    • Develop positive rapport and good working relationships with clients in the housing program and landlords in the community.
    • Operate as a cooperative member of the Young Adult Transition Team, which is a multidisciplinary team of professionals in KMHS with a focus on behavioral health support for young adults.
    • Provide outreach support in the community for clients to practice honing their skills, including transporting clients when appropriate and necessary.
    • Perform the Foundational Community Supports assessment and recertification with clients, collecting supporting documentation, and creating individual person centered client goals which may include housing, education, training, coaching, resolving disputes, and advocacy.
    • Support the implementation of the Permanent Supportive Housing Fidelity model.
    • Assist consumer learning and development of simple and complex skills through training, demonstration and observation of such things as cooking, cleaning, money management, symptom management, social interaction and other recovery skills.
    • Provide structure as needed for clients. This could vary case by case and could include looking for housing, helping a client work out a weekly schedule for house work, taking a group shopping on a regular basis, or working side beside a less abled client giving prompts on specific house cleaning tasks.
    • Encourage the development, monitoring and completion of housing goals.
    • Maintain contact with Crisis Response Team, housing team and clinical team. Report salient observations of client mental status; conditions posing increased risk for clients, staff or others; indications of deterioration of client stability, or of improvement such that unit level of services are no longer necessary.
    • Provide early identification and intervention for behaviors that may jeopardize housing.
    • Take appropriate action when clients are missing, ill, injured, or otherwise physically and/or psychiatrically impaired.
    • Document unusual events on incident reports and consult with appropriate agency personnel regarding required course of action.
    • Participate in development of transitional planning for residents graduating to more independent living situations.
    • Work in a cooperative and collaborative manner as a team member. Assist in building positive working relationships with staff of all agency departments.
    • Provide backup to staff in other programs as needed and when schedule of duties and responsibilities allows.
    • Communicate regularly with other KMHS staff assigned to each client's care regarding client's needs and progress as well emergency situations such as decompensation, unsanitary or unhealthy living conditions, and exploitation of or by others.
    • Document all services thoroughly and accurately and submit all documentation in a timely manner per agency policy and WAC requirements.
    • In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.
    Minimum Qualifications:

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field OR Four or more year's relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report and reliable, insured transportation.

    LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    EXPERIENCE:

    Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment, individual and group therapy, vocational services, or substance abuse treatment.

    Shift:

    Swing shift position that will work on-site at Evergreen Bright Start from 10am- 7pm Monday through Friday. This role also requires transport of residents to access community resources and activities.

    • Communication - Communicates clearly and concisely.
    • Computer skills - Ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, printer, and copier proficiently.
    • Ability to effectively communicate and engage with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, recognizing and respecting their unique perspectives and experiences.
    • Commitment to promoting an inclusive and welcoming environment that celebrates diversity and fosters a sense of belonging among program participants.
    ABILITIES:
    • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed productivity standards. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team member.
    • Able to assist in building positive working relationships with staff of all agency departments.
    Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

    Work Environment: Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.

    Mental/Physical Requirements: While performing the job duties, the employee is required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk, or listen. Peripheral vision is also required for this position.
