The Edlavitch-Tyser Early Childhood Center is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified early childhood teacher to join our Camp Keetov teaching team this summer This is a temporary position from June 17th through August 9th.

Hours would be from 8:30-3:30pm Monday-Friday.


As a camp teacher you would join our wonderful team of educators dedicated to offering a wonderful summer experience for a multi-age class of children aged 2-5 years old.

Exploring through our favorite books, each week is planned to engage children through play, model Jewish values like community and kindness, and inspire joy and connection.

Camp Keetov is located in Northwest, Washington DC.


Responsibilities include:


  • Prioritizing and attending to the safety of children at all times.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment that meets state licensing standards.
  • Preparing, planning, and successfully implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum in partnership with your teaching team.
  • Nurturing a classroom culture that helps each child to become aware of their role as an integral member of a group and is inclusive of all students and their families
  • Observing and documenting individual children, interactions, and thinking processes in the classroom.
  • Integrating Jewish content and values in meaningful and developmentally appropriate ways throughout the classroom.
  • Developing positive and communicative relationships with the parents
  • Participating in required training, Health and Safety courses, and team planning meetings

Qualifications and Skills:


  • A college degree (AA/BA/BS) or higher, preferably in in early childhood education or a related field, OR a current Child Development Associate (CDA).
  • Experience working with children 25 years old.
  • A demonstrated understanding of children 25 years old in social/emotional, language and literacy, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is commensurate with experience and education. The E-T ECC participates in the DC Pay Equity Fund, and camp teachers are paid in accordance with the Minimum Salaries for FY24.

Pay:
$ $36.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.5 per week
