Responsibilities:


The Dental Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing of healthcare services as well as following up on outstanding insurance claims.

This role involves interacting with patients, insurance companies and internal departments to ensure timely payment of claims, resolve billing issues and ensure a positive patient experience.

- **Billing and Coding*
  • Review and analyze patient records to ensure accurate coding of procedures and diagnoses
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of claims to insurance companies

Follow Up

  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding claims to facilitate prompt reimbursement
  • Contact insurance companies to resolve billing issues, denials, and discrepancies; submit appeals when necessary
  • Respond to inquiries from insurance companies and provider teams
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve patient issues and ensure a positive patient experience
  • Stay informed of payer regulations, coding updates and insurance policies

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of billing and followup activities
  • Collaborate and document processes and workflows to help streamline and create efficiencies to help with complex billing, coding, and payer issues

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday through Thursday 8:30am5:30pm & Friday 9:00am3:00pm

Requirements:


  • HS Diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a related field is preferred
  • Previous experience in healthcare billing, medical coding, or revenue cycle management
  • Knowledge of healthcare billing practices, insurance regulations, and coding standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the team, attention to detail and ability to research
  • Proficiency in using billing software and electronic health record systems
