Job Description -Scaffold Helper / Apprentice

Classification

Reports to
Scaffold Foreman

Summary / Objective

A Scaffold Helper is responsible for working within a scaffold crew to assist in the construction, assembly, maintaining and dismantling of tubular scaffolding.

No previous experience is required; however, considerable strength and endurance is required to safely and successfully perform this job.

Essential Functions

Participate in safety prejob audits (JSA's) with the scaffolding crew to ensure all safety hazards have been identified
Willingness to work with other crew members to accomplish task.
Assembles scaffold containing handrails, midrails, braces and planks, toe boards, handrails, walkways, platforms and gangways.
Effectively communicating with Supervisors, Peers and Subordinates
Responsible for cleaning work area removing debris and materials.
Any other duties as assigned by supervision

Working in high precarious places
Exposed to all types of weather conditions hot /humid/cold/wet
Working around different types of chemicals
Working in high noise areas

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Must have the ability to take direction, comprehend instructions and work well with others
Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions
Must be willing to work weekends and overtime.

Qualifications

High School Degree or equivalent
Ability to pass Hair Follicle Testing
Acceptable Background
Successfully complete Formosa Safety Training
Provide scaffolding tools used in the trade
Must be willing to work overtime
Required to wear PPE on job site at all times.
