Job Description General Summary**Under direct supervision of the Director/Associate Director of Respiratory Services, the Respiratory Care Equipment Coordinator shall be expected to oversee the calibration, cleaning, and restocking of all INO Vent Nitric Oxide delivery systems based on departmental guidelines. The Respiratory Care Equipment Coordinator is expected to maintain databases, expense processes and reimbursement forms related to the use of the Nitric Oxide delivery systems. The Respiratory Care Equipment Coordinator shall oversee and coordinate the daily activities and scheduling of the Respiratory Care Equipment Technicians, as well as be responsible for the overall management of Respiratory Care equipment and disposable supplies.


Principal Responsibilities and Tasks


The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by person(s) assigned to this classification.

They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

  • Monthly calibration of all INO Vent Nitric Oxide Delivery Systems.
  • Clean, restock, and calibrate each INO Vent after each individual use.
  • Maintain a log of patient's using Nitric Oxide by obtaining the appropriate patient information with an accurate start and stop time of Nitric Oxide use.
  • Maintain Nitric Oxide database.
  • Assure all Pre-Invoice Register forms are filled out completely and submitted within the required time period.
  • The Respiratory Care Equipment Coordinator is to assure appropriate information is forwarded to INO Therapeutics in the event that the Nitric Oxide Tank Timer is inadvertently left on.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of nitric oxide gas and necessary disposable supplies.
  • Place timely orders for Nitric Oxide and Medical Gases with appropriate vendors.
  • Reconcile Nitric Oxide use with INO Therapeutics monthly invoices.
  • Coordinate the duties and activities of the Respiratory Care Equipment Technician(s)
  • Provide for adequate equipment support through the development and maintenance of an Equipment Technician schedule.
  • Ability to demonstrate through example and instruct the Equipment Technicians in proper equipment disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly processes.
  • Provide for the efficient operation of respiratory care equipment management via communication and coordination with departmental management staff, equipment technicians, respiratory therapists, nursing units, and materials management.
  • Maintain the equipment processing and storage area in a clean, neat, and suitable manner.
  • Maintain communication with the departmental management staff on supply back orders, shortages, perceived trends, and/or misuse of equipment and supplies.
  • Serve as a department liaison to the Bio Medical / Clinical Engineering staff.
  • Guarantee that ventilators and other lifesupport equipment is assembled appropriately and maintained in proper working condition.
  • Assist with tracking and location of hospital owned and rental equipment.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or a state high school equivalency certificate (GED) is required.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Access) & Palm based technology preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Basic understanding and ability to use the English language.
  • Must be able to understand, interpret, and communicate using the technical language of respiratory therapists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Effective and legible writing skills are necessary to appropriately document gauge readings.
  • Must be able to correctly assemble respiratory equipment and be able to assess the Respiratory Care Equipment Technicians with these tasks.
  • Ability to push/pull heavy equipment (including medical gas "H" cylinders) up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to walk and stand while delivering supplies and equipment to the various store rooms.
