    ABOUT THE CENTER FOR WOMEN AND FAMILIES

    The Center for Women and Families provides trauma-informed advocacy and support for individuals, families and entire communities affected by intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We mitigate the impact of trauma by building resiliency and reducing risk factors at all levels. ?We are guided by a strong grassroots history, feminist history, a commitment to social justice, a focus on prevention and a vision of creating a world without violence. Supportive services for all individuals and their dependents include crisis response, emergency shelter, sexual assault services, advocacy and support, housing, and children's services. The Center leads several primary prevention projects that engage individuals in acting affirmatively to create safe communities. To provide comprehensive care for all victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault throughout the community, The Center has established many cooperative partnerships. There are four regional locations serving nine Kentuckiana counties: Bullitt, Henry, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Trimble counties in Kentucky, and Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana.?

    THE OPPORTUNITY

    The Director of Development is responsible for creating and implementing The Center's individual fundraising plan for Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The Director will report directly and work in close collaboration with the newly hired, Vice President of Development and Communications, an innovative and dynamic development professional. The Director will have the freedom to create and implement innovative fundraising programs for the Center with the goal of increasing awareness and support of the Center's growth. This position allows for ample opportunities for career development and growth. In conjunction with the Development Manager, the Director will also develop annual relationship generation initiatives, provide support to develop a planned giving program and will participate in organizing and hosting annual events and soliciting donors for the events. The Development Manager, a newly created position, will report directly to the Director of Development.

    The Director will divide their time between fundraising and donor relations, creation and administration of systems and infrastructure within the development department, managing fundraising events and creating and overseeing a planned giving program for the Center.

    CANDIDATE PROFILE AND REPSONSIBILITIES

    Fundraising/Donor Relations:

    • Assist in planning and implementing the annual fundraising plan for Individual Giving in partnership with the VP of Development and Communications.
    • Develop long-term growth plan, particularly for major gifts, working closely with VP of Development and Communications.
    • Create a road map for various initiatives that will contribute to the growth of the individual giving program.
    • Work with the VP of Development and Communications to develop your own portfolio of donors and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies that will grow annual portfolio revenue.
    • Support solicitation of individual prospects for VP of Development and Communications, CEO and members of the board of directors: prepare solicitors, create briefs and supporting materials as needed, and schedule meetings and events, as requested.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors.
    • Reestablish meaningful relationships with current donors.
    • Create programs and strategies to maintain relationships with current donor database.
    • Partner with the Development Manager to produce donor research, as needed.
    • Develop collaborative and productive working relationships with The Center's program staff.
    • Partner with the Director of Grants Management and the Director of Development Database to provide relevant, up-to-date statistics on The Center's programming and service population to prospective donors.
    • Represent The Center and its programs in meetings, phone conversations and at events with individual and prospective donors.

    Systems and Infrastructure:

    • Create all departmental materials to aid in solicitation of individuals.
    • Work with the VP for Development and Communications to develop a performance metrics plan for each fiscal year.
    • Enter all donor strategies and actions into Raiser's Edge database system.

    Event Planning:

    • Solicit donors for annual events such as the Celebration of Service and Survival and the Breakfast of Brilliance.
    • Provide other event support, as requested.
    • Partner with the Development Manager to produce additional donor events throughout the year.

    Planned Giving:

    • Support the VP of Development and Communications in developing a planned giving program.
    • Incorporate planned giving discussions with donors as part of cultivation and solicitation activities in portfolio development.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, social work or related field. (Experience may be substituted for degree)
    • 3 - 5 years' experience in fundraising, development or donor relations
    • Compassion and understanding of the Center's vision and mission
    • Detail oriented
    • Growth minded
    • Creative and innovative thinker able to change direction when necessary.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills.
    • Fluency in languages other than English are a plus.
    • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets The Center's automobile insurance requirements.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS


    The Center is prepared to offer a competitive salary in the range of $60,000 - $67,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical insurance, life insurance, vacation and sick time, parking stipend, 403b contribution, and a diverse offering of voluntary benefits.
