    Job SummaryAECOM has a position available for a mid-career Mechanical Engineer to support our growing Energy Business Line.

    For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices in multiple locations across the United States through our Freedom to Grow program.

    We are challenging the status quo and strengthening gender equity and inclusion in the workplace through a culture and balance that works for both you and AECOM.Our team provides a wide range of mechanical engineering services across markets sectors including oil and gas – upstream, midstream and downstream refining, industrial processes (chemical, petrochemical, food and beverage), mining/bulk material handling and future and renewable fuels (such as hydrogen, renewable natural gas, biogas, carbon capture).The successful candidate is expected to be a detail oriented, experienced engineer who can make decisions independently under the guidance of senior staff.

    The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:

    Development of mechanical equipment and piping material specificationsProduce calculations to support design such as hydraulic analysis, pipe stress calculations, tank and pump sizingCoordination with mechanical design team to direct completion of engineering drawings.

    Multi-discipline collaboration on the development of equipment general arrangements, P&ID's, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, orthographic, etc.
    Attend client meetings and/or site field visitsWorks under limited supervision.
    Performs both routine and non-routine, complex design assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations.

    Maintain open communication with project team (including remote staff) regarding workload planning, task estimating and budgetingWorking with Project Engineers and Project Managers on developing workload forecasts, design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activitiesCreating, updating, and implementing group specific standardsPrepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations.

    Interact with vendors, regulatory agencies and contractors​​​​​​​Review vendor drawings/data to ensure conformance with project specificationsPreparation of project specification and technical documentsAbility to check and verify work prepared by peer/group​​​​​​​Applies strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, guides, specifications, and procedures specific to working in with US mechanical and industrial infrastructureEnsure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design workDCS—EnergyAECOM's Energy practice provides a wide range of services from consulting and engineering design to energy engineering, energy procurement and construction (EPC) for power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy clients.

    Familiarity with diverse metallurgyDemonstrated experience with engineering software packages:

    Caesar II, Pipe-Flo (or other hydraulic modeling application), AspenTech applications and/or Applied Flow Technology applicationsExperience with HVAC and/or other similar building systemExperience with Hydrogen production facilitiesExperience executing work in 3D model environmentsExperience with Smart P&ID'sExperience working in collaborative model environments (e.g.
