Recovery Support Specialist - Mobile Crisis Response Team


Since 1961, The Association for Individual Development (AID) has served individuals with developmental, intellectual, physical and/or mental health challenges, those who have suffered a trauma, and those at risk.

We are looking for a Recovery Support Specialist - Mobile Crisis Response Team who exemplifies that mission, and who wants to work for an organization that makes a difference.

What will you be doing?

  • Evenings and Overnights 6pm6am shift
  • Recovery Support Specialists support and assist individuals struggling with substance abuse, mental health issues, and other behavioral health challenges by utilizing their own lived experience as a consumer of mental health services and participating in recovery practices.
  • Recovery Support Specialists will, when appropriate, openly share their stories of hope and recovery and will likewise be able to identify and describe the supports that promote their recovery and resilience.
  • Providing mental health crisis intervention services via phone and community engagement.
  • Actively acquiring experiential and education hours as participation in ongoing training towards meeting Illinois Certification Board requirements for CRSS certification.
  • Collaborating with other AID programs to provide community support and psychosocial services to individuals.
  • Documenting client engagements and providing case management in compliance with program and agency policies and procedures.

What will you bring to the table?

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Knowledge, skill and competencies equivalent to completion of a bachelor's degree in a human services field and one year of experience performing peer support.
  • A current or former consumer of mental health services (including cooccurring mental illness and substance use disorder) and willing to selfdisclose your lived experience and recovery.
  • An understanding that selfdisclosure and advocacy are essential functions of recovery support.
  • Eligible to obtain, and desire to work toward, a CRSS Certification
  • Flexibility to work evening hours
  • Use of personal automobile
  • Maintain automobile liability insurance as defined by AID's personnel policies
  • Maintain valid Illinois driver's license
  • Meet/maintain driving record standards as defined by AID's insurance carrier
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, demonstrating cultural competency and community awareness

- $1000 sign on bonus for full-time
