Description

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI specializing in engine repairs for our Distribution Business.

  • In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:_
  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools.
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles.
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies.
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools.
  • In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:_

(Intermediate):


  • Completes complex internal engine repairs.
  • Performs engine overhauls with limited direct supervision.

(Advanced):


  • Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
  • Larger more complicated engine rebuilds.
  • Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation.

Education, Licenses, Certifications
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit (preferred)

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.


Experience
Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)

This opening is for second shift in shop engine tech level 3. Second shift is Mon - Fri from 3pm - 11pm.

This position requires a state of Michigan mechanic's certificate in diesel engine repair within the first 90 days of employment.


This position will require a completed DMV driving report but no Driver Qualification file. CANDIDATE MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD AND HAVE 2 YEARS DRIVING EXPERIENCE. This position will be part of the FTA pool.

  • A current valid license is required for this role
  • Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience
  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.

Diagnostics Application - Translates customer complaints to develop troubleshooting plan; troubleshoots issue following guided work flows, procedures, specialized equipment such as mechanical and electronic service tools, and diagnoses computer software to isolate failed components to enable a successful repair; validates repair by duplicating complaint to ensure it has been resolved; documents results of troubleshooting in business systems to communicate what has been done for payment and historical tracking.
