Summary:


Lifespan Physician Group (LPG) the largest physician organization in Rhode Island and academically affiliated with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University has an opening for a Psych Nurse Practitioner at our Adult Gender & Sexuality Behavioral Health Program.

One of the few programs of its kind you will focus specifically on the behavioral health needs of adult LGBTQ population with an emphasis on treating transgender and gender non-binary individuals.

The goal of the program is to maximize access to gender affirming care.


Responsibilities:


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIIES:

Focus on care for transgender non-binary gay lesbian queer pansexual polyamorous and kink-identified patients.

Participates in the development of an individualized treatment plan with the members of the multidisciplinary team.

Provides educational and liaison support to care team members.

May assist in clinical research projects including data acquisition entry and analysis as needed.

Participates in quality improvement teams and other committees as needed.

Maintains quality assurance safety environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies procedures and objectives.

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursingorlicensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.


BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Graduate from a Nurse Practitioner program with MS degree. Certified by the American Nurses Association (ANA) or by theAmericanAcademyof Nurse Practitioners (AANP) to practice in the expanded role. License must include prescriptive privileges. Completion of a course in American Heart Association Basic Life Support.


EXPERIENCE:
Familiarity and competence providing gender-affirming mental health care.

Strong desire to work with the LGBTQ population.

Ability to provide an intersectional trauma-informed approach to working with transgender and gender diverse patients.

Prefer experience working with psychiatric patients in some capacity.

Must have patient care services procedures and privileges approved by the sponsoring physician.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Psychiatry and behavioral health outpatient practice setting. Any hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions.


INDEPENDENT ACTION:


Incumbent functions independently within a broad scope of departmental policies and practices; generally refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification interpretation or exception of departmental policies and procedures may be required.
