Summary

Lab Secretary assist lab personnel in handling specimens, registering patients for clinics, faxing results, communication with clinics to ensure that the patients' needs are met.


Hours:
M, T, W, F 10a-6p


Responsibilities:


  • Accession, gross and process all slides that come in on daily basis
  • Collect all ordered special stains for pathologist to read separate from new cases
  • Create consults to various pathologists across the country if requested by pathologist
  • Maintain melanoma cases in IDPH portal
  • Keep log of outgoing stains in excel spreadsheet
  • Keep track of incoming case load from DLCS and communicate number to pathologist
  • Send out Castle BioScience recs for DecisionDx or DiffDx on select melanoma cases.
  • Type up pathology diagnoses for all cases the pathologist reads
  • Recheck all signed pathology to ensure successful signing
  • Answer general questions from other Skin Care Center facilities, DLCS or other various pathology departments who have our materials
  • Follow up with pathology results for providers

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent certificate
  • Prior experience in medical office
  • Ability to learn related center tasks and be of assistance to management and physicians
  • Selfmotivated to achieve the highest patient care and customer service standards
  • Knowledge of ICD10 and CPT coding (preferred)
  • Familiarity with the ModMed EMA EMR (preferred)
  • Thorough understanding of HIPAA law
  • Team player
