JOB SUMMARY


The Head of Projects is a leadership position responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of project management within an organization.

This role involves leading and coordinating project teams, developing project plans, monitoring progress, and ensuring successful project delivery.

The Head of Projects is responsible for setting project objectives, allocating resources, managing budgets, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within scope.

Additionally, this role involves collaborating with stakeholders, managing risks, and implementing best practices in project management. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.


Reporting to the Project Director, this role will implement project execution processes and ensure methodologies and processes are captured for future reference across the fleet.


JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Main Job Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) management according to corporate standards

  • Optimal resource management (e.g., balanced across cost, quality, capability, productivity)
  • Ensuring project planning and status reporting is performed to corporate standards.
  • Ensuring project execution and cost control is maintained to corporate standards.
  • Inform stakeholders of project status based on project specific milestones and deliverables.
  • Overall visibility and reporting on upcoming and ongoing projects within the organization.
  • Summary guidance and reporting across all Projects, as required.
  • Authority in the field of managed projects to include that Seadrill directives and procedures are in compliance with company and industry standards
  • AFE Responsibility, from cost build through close out
  • Support the Director of Projects with budget and forecast submissions relative to their discipline for head count, department cost, research and development
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the project HSE Manager to implement a system of safe working practice that is consistent across all project worksites. Sponsor and support a culture of safety awareness within the project team, vendors, and shipyard workforce. Facilitate and conduct regular allparty HSE meetings. Provide Corporate management and client with regular HSE reports complete with historical incident data and trend analysis. Conduct frequent site audits to ensure that all agreed safety management processes and systems are implemented and effective.
  • Review shipyard activities daily with the Shipyard and the Project Managers, ensure alignment with the project scope, schedule and budgets. Conduct forward analysis of future activities to identify latent efficiencies and areas where there may be potential for schedule acceleration.
  • Direct the Project Managers and project personnel to support the operations, project planning and execution, maintenance, and other operational outcomes within the discipline
  • Provide guidance to the support team to define and prepare overall work scopes for projects
  • Review and analyze project budgets and administration requirements, planning and scheduling project work and coordinating with project teams
  • Ensure team and individual goals and objectives are clearly defined that support the overall department and company strategic initiatives as it relates to the improvement of the discipline
  • To review the project Risk Register, conduct regular reviews, prepare mitigation plans to ensure that they are complete and effective.
  • Review, author and issue status reports to senior management
  • Coordinate the definition and preparation of the overall work scopes for projects
  • Ensure resource planning and allocation is in place for ongoing and future projects and assist Project Managers and rigs with planning of specific SPS, reactivation and other special projects
  • Perform review and approvals of the project status based on the following milestones:
  • Initial project milestone plan and budget
  • Review equipment
