    Salary Information
    Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations
    Nature of Work

    The fundamental reason thisclassification exists is to perform supervisory and participatory recreationwork directing a large staff, administering recreation and/or athletic programsfor the public, and providing services and facilities for organized groups at alarge recreation center and gym facility.

    Community Center Director IIIs are responsible for the organization andimplementation of programs at the recreation center.

    The essential functions are supervisingemployees and volunteers; overseeing and assisting staff in the administrationof recreation and/or athletic programs; manages the community center'sfinancial resources; and contributes to the department objectives.

    Employeesin this class typically supervise Recreation Leader IIs and Is, RecreationAides, and volunteers.

    The CommunityCenter Director III is distinguished from the Community Center II in that theDirector III conducts selected activities at a larger facility and supervises alarger staff (including coaches) with programs/activities designed for organizedathletics programs as well as open gym activities.

    The Director II isdistinguished from the Director III in that the Director II is more involved inleading non-athletic programs and is generally assigned to a smaller facilitywith a smaller staff.

    Community Center Director IIIs report to the RecreationArea Supervisor.
    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in Health, PhysicalEducation and Recreation (HPER),Recreation Administration, or a closely relatedfield and two years of professional supervisory experience in theadministration of recreation and/or athletic programs in a parks and recreationdepartment, school or agency

    NOTE:
    Qualifyingeducation, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skillsand abilities to perform the job will be considered.
    Special Requirements
    Must have and maintain a validDriver's license and insurable driving record.

    Must have Class B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsementor be able to obtain one within six (6) months of employment.

    May berequired to work nights, weekends, and overtime and be on-call for specialevents, emergencies, and security alarm calls.
    Kind of Examination

    Applications are being accepted to fill two (2) vacancies and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.

    The current vacancy is with the City of Montgomery Parks and Recreation Department.
    Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.
