Position Summary:


The Data Policy Analyst is a data specialist instrumental in analyzing and interpreting complex data sets that tell persuasive stories regarding public policy developments in heath equity, health care quality and public health.


For this data portfolio, the Data Policy Analyst applies analytical skills to translate data into meaningful insights that drive strategic initiatives and support the association's mission.

The Data Policy Analyst's quantitative expertise drives decisions that shape influential policies that resonate with our hospital members.


The Data Policy Analyst enjoys a hybrid schedule, coming to the office on Tuesdays and as needed for internal and external meetings, events, or projects.

The projected salary range for the Data Policy Analyst is $95,000-$115,000 per year.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DATA POLICY ANALYST:

  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets related to health care policy issues, legislation and regulation.
  • Link and manipulate data from Medicare cost reports, the AEH annual member survey, and other databases to inform analyses of issues affecting essential hospitals and the patients they serve.
  • Lead development of survey instrument and research questions for the annual AEH Essential Data Survey.
  • Collaborate with IT and data vendors to ensure timely delivery of accurate results that inform association advocacy efforts.
  • Work with other policy team members to use data to inform analysis of the impact of policy proposals.
  • Support Legislative Affairs team with quantitative analyses of legislation that may impact essential hospitals.
  • Summarize, writeup, and present written analysis of data findings in a clear and concise manner through website content, data policy briefs, and other communications.
  • Serve as technical pointofcontact for member requests for information on topics within data portfolio.
  • Represent America's Essential Hospitals with external coalitions and at external meetings with federal agencies and other stakeholders, as necessary.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new data systems and databases relevant to association policy research.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed regarding member data and analyses to advance the organization's work.
  • Assist in all other activities, special projects, meetings, and other assignments as needed.
