Details:

The job duties of the Residential Solid Waste Driver are to drive residential trucks to designated locations in a timely, safe manner.

Pick up heavy trash, yard waste, service carts; perform facility maintenance and tasks as assigned. Work hours will require a start time of 5:45 AM.


The job duties of the Solid Waste Driver are to drive residential and commercial trucks to designated locations in a timely, safe manner.

Pick up heavy trash, yard waste, service carts; perform facility maintenance and tasks as assigned. Work hours may require a start time of 5:45 AM.


Responsibilities:


The duties described below are indicative of what the Solid Waste Driver may be asked to perform; duties may be changed with or without notice.

Responsible for an assigned residential or commercial route to pick up or transfer waste and may serve as a relief driver for another route as assigned.

Facility maintenance duties, such as, mowing, edging, paper picking, residential cart issues and pulls, washing vehicles, etc. as assigned.
Assisting Recycling, Scale House and Superintendents with related tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

REQUIRED
High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in operating heavy equipment and trucks, such as, loaders, roll-off residential trucks and commercial trucks.
Valid Texas driver's license and acceptable driving record.

PREFERRED
Valid Class "B" CDL Driver's License.
Please note, that if hired without a Class "B" CDL, then it must be obtained within the following timeframe:
Class "B" CDL (if hired without, must be obtained within the first six months of employment).
SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must be available to work on an "on call" schedule when assigned or in severe weather conditions when needed.

Ability to positively interact with staff and public.

Ability to operate various types of equipment including hand tools, chain saws, mowers, weed eaters, etc.

REASONING ABILITIES
Ability to respond to complaints and grievances posed by the public.
Ability to define problems and deal with a variety of situations.
Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control and adapt to stressful situations.
Ability to use good judgement and effectively problem-solve.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the staff, supervisor, and the public.
Ability to communicate in both written and verbal form.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

The duties of this job may include physical activities such as balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking pushing, pulling, lifting grasping, feeling, talking, hearing/listening, seeing/observing, bending/twisting and performing repetitive motions.

The duties of this job require lifting of heavy objects weighing approximately 50 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
