    Description
    Dean of Humanities and Sciences at Southern Methodist University
    Southern Methodist University (SMU) is seeking a new Dean for the Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences. The successful candidate will play an important role in SMU's goal to become a Carnegie R-1 institution.

    As Dean, you will maintain the College's reputation for high-quality undergraduate and graduate teaching while building on its research capabilities.

    The Dedman College is SMU's oldest, largest, and most diverse academic unit. It offers degrees in 16 departments and accounts for 53% of undergraduate instruction.

    The College has a tenure-line faculty of 189, a teaching faculty of 127, and serves nearly 40% of all enrolled SMU students.

    SMU is looking for a prominent scholar with significant departmental and institutional leadership experience in a research university.

    The successful candidate will have a strong record of scholarship, teaching, and service, and will be able to articulate a strategic vision for the College.

    The new Dean must be a collaborator and have experience building interdisciplinary programs.
