SUNWEST CONTRACTING is an underground utility contractor who specializes in the installation of wet and dry utilities for homebuilders in the greater Phoenix area. JOB DESCRIPTION:


We are seeking an individual experienced in construction accounting to join our team The Accountant will assist in providing financial, administrative and clerical support to the organization.

The person in this role must be able to accomplish tasks in a timely manner and be extremely organized.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Facilitate monthly billings by handling receivables, processing waivers and overseeing the process from start to finish
  • Input vendor invoices into Quickbooks and audit monthly
  • Conduct monthly credit card reconciliations
  • Performing cost accounting; allocating job costs and coding invoices


  • Contract Management

  • Setup new Jobs with cost codes in QB, Facilitate Change Order Management and Job Closeout process
  • Track all Company assets in Quickbooks and maintain depreciation schedules, amortization schedules, both current and long term
  • Monitor and reconcile cashed and outstanding checks
  • Pull reports and assist with forecasting
  • Cost code payroll
  • Create and implement purchase orders for jobs with vendors
  • Maintain strong communication with internal teams, clients, and vendors
  • Participate in weekly meetings with manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:


  • 3+ years relevant experience required
  • Construction industry experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related degree preferred
  • General understanding of GAAP principles
  • Proficient in Quickbooks, Timberline/Sage 300, or similar software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Projects, and Outlook
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • With or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and mental requirements of this job may include the following: seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly. Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements may include, frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.

MINIMUM HIRING STANDARDS:


  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be willing to participate in the Company's preemployment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation
  • Must have a reliable means of communication (i.e. phone)
