Job Summary:


Under supervision of the Technical Supervisor, the Technical Specialist is primarily responsible for maintenance of PSM Covered Process Safety Information (PSI), including master plant drawings and documentation; provide back up support to the lab, Customer support through Technical Services; and be the Learning Management System (LMS) champion assisting in online training improvements.


Major Duties & Responsibilities:

Maintain PSM Covered Process Safety Information (PSI)

  • Organizes and maintains master copies of Process Safety and Technology Information (equipment/instrument data and specifications, master equipment/instrument/interlock/valve/line/specials/drawing lists, drawings, Project Data Books, etc.)
  • Coordinates the transmittal of drawing packages to the drafting department in Toronto.
  • Performs backchecks of drafted drawings
  • Manages the Plant Master Drawing files (in excess of 4000 drawings)
  • Issues tag/label orders for additions found in the MOC and asbuilding process
  • Files all PSI into appropriate electronic and paper files for the plant.
  • Issues equipment/valve/line numbers for all Port Edwards plant led items
Laboratory Backfill

  • Collects daily samples from locations throughout the plant
  • Prepares samples for analysis
  • Performs basic lab analyses
Customer Support (Technical Services)

  • Provide documentation per customer requests
  • Complete customer surveys
  • Participate in customer audits

Key Attributes & Qualifications:


  • Minimum 3 years experience of document management, managing document mark ups, updating, and filing
  • Associates Degree or equivalent education in technical field (engineering technician, drafter, designer, mechanical technician, instrument technician) is required
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office and PDF creation
  • Fundamental knowledge of Mechanical/Process Drawing (Symbology, P&ID's, Electrical Drawings, etc.)
  • Basic laboratory skills are considered an asset
