- Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved research or engineering techniques and procedures on EOR related projects. Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined materials, processes, products, and/or scientific methods and approaches.
- In a supervisory capacity, plans, develops, coordinates, and directs projects; may require the use of sophisticated project planning techniques.
- Develop new methods and technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of oil and gas extraction processes
- Identifies technical approach for solving problems and meeting customer needs.
- Make contributions to reports and publications; author/co-author on papers, patents, proposals, presentations and reports.
- Support field tests of new techniques and technologies.

Job Summary:
CNPC USA is actively seeking creative, innovative, best-in-class experts to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for researchers in the area of improved/enhanced oil recovery (IOR/EOR) with expertise in lab testing and simulation. As an Enhanced Oil and Gas Recovery Research Scientist, you will be responsible for planning and executing IOR/EOR research, particularly for designing and setting up EOR tests, such as core flow tests and evaluating polymer and surfactant products for EOR applications. The Research Scientist reports directly to the R&D manager of EOR products, Downhole fluids.
Responsibilities:
Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Strong background in enhanced oil and gas recovery research.
Hands-on experience in laboratory experiments and field testing of enhanced oil and gas recovery techniques; Master's degree candidates with exceptional qualifications may be considered. Three or more years in enhanced oil/gas recovery research, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment but also be required to work in a research lab environment regularly. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The individual will be expected to work with hazardous chemicals that may have an odor and the candidate must be familiar with basic chemical hygiene practices.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and the ability to lift 20lbs and bend is required.
Travel:
Less than 20% of working time, may involve international traveling.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
