Job Summary:


The Digital Producer is the lead visual journalist at WGLT, producing photo, video, audio, and written content as assigned for various platforms.

The Digital Producer must be able to work well independently or when paired with another staff member.

The Digital Producer should proactively work to improve the overall visual quality of WGLT's products, advising other staff on best practices and strategies for using photography and videography.

The Digital Producer also plays a support role in managing WGLT's social media and newsletter products.

    Salary Rate / Pay Rate:$21.00 per hour

Required Qualifications:


  • 1.
Any one or any combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) of the following types of preparation:


  • A. progressively more responsible work experience in the production and presentation of radio or television programs, social media, and/or print or online journalism
  • B. vocational training in radio and/or television production, journalism, social media, news or feature writing and/or announcing or closely related fields
  • C. college course work in radio/television, journalism, social media, news or feature writing or closely related fields 60 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
  • 75 semester hours equals one (1) year and six (6) months (18 months)
  • 90semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
  • 120 semester hours or a Bachelor's degree equals three (3) years (36 months)

Preferred Qualifications:


  • General understanding of radio industry with emphasis on public radio.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in many forms.
  • A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience as a working journalist or radio personality is a plus.
  • Knowledge of central Illinois and statewide news issues and personalities. Knowledge of Greater Peoria community is a plus.
  • Ability to gather information through interviews and then write clear and concise stores to engage an audience.

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
