Monday-Friday, 1st Shift, 8:00am-4:30pm
Reports to the Director of Nursing Quality and Excellence Services for the development, organization, and ongoing leadership for assigned departments of Self Regional Healthcare. Has 24-hour accountability for the assessment, planning, and evaluation by leading patient flow, bed management, and centralized staffing operations for nursing units. This role ensures safe, efficient movement of patients throughout the organization and optimizes staffing resources to support high-quality care. Responsible for the hiring, orientation, ongoing competence, and evaluation of all assigned personnel. Maintains operational aspects of the patient care area/ department in collaboration with Nursing Services and Ancillary Services. Role models professional nursing practice.
Directs daily operations related to admissions, discharges, transfers (internal and external), and hospital bed utilization. Oversees the capacity/bed management team to ensure timely patient placement. Leads and participates in capacity huddles and multidisciplinary flow rounds. Monitors real-time throughput dashboards and intervenes to address barriers. Partners with the Emergency Care Center, perioperative areas, ancillary, inpatient units, Case Management, providers to improve flow.
Provides leadership for patient and team member safety; the development and implementation of plans to provide nursing care, treatment, and services that address how the needs of the patient population are assessed, met, and evaluated in an ongoing manner to the improve the quality of nursing care. Must maintain knowledge of current and trending nursing practice, is accountable to ensure compliance with the State South Carolina Nursing Practice Act; State Board of Nursing Regulation, DNV, EMTALA, regulatory and accreditation standards.
Supports the nursing vision, shared governance, ongoing professional development, and maintenance of competencies that support professional nursing practice. Creates and maintains a culture of safety by using data to make decisions and proactively mitigates unnecessary risks by providing instruction and mentoring for assigned team members to be able to do the same. Creates a healthy work environment that fosters engagement and growth of the nursing teams that enables the organization to meet or exceed all licensure, regulatory and accreditation standards. Role models teamwork and collaboration with team members, physicians, and departments across the organization, ensuring the voice of the patient is central to formation of process or policy. Performs other duties related to role as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- BSN required from accredited nursing school.
- Two years' experience as a Registered Nurse, actively licensed in the state of South Carolina.
- Nurse Managers are to maintain BLS. They will maintain other certifications as required by those units they oversee.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three -Five years of experience in hospital operations, nursing leadership, bed management, or staffing coordination preferred.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- National certification in clinical specialty preferred.
