Ferguson is currently seeking the right individual to fill an immediate need for a
Category Specialist - Rough Plumbing. The Category Specialist will be responsible for supporting the profitable growth of the
Rough Plumbing Category. This associate will support the enterprise strategy for rough plumbing products across all business and channels. This position will report into the Category Manager - Rough Plumbing.

This is a Hybrid role based out of Newport News, VA HQ location, in accordance with the
Ferguson Flex schedule; 3 days office / 2 days remote.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Work with Category Program Manager to develop and implement strategies within the [Category] to define the product strategy, roadmap and create short term operational plans.
  • Evaluate supplier performance relative to category strategy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Conduct regular reviews of branded vendors and own brand products to ensure volume/mix and profit objectives are achieved.
  • Help resolve vendorrelated problems regarding performance, service, timing, quality, quantity, delivery industry and more.
  • Develop recommendations for underperforming or unaligned products and programs, including program terminations.
  • Provide marketing and merchandising guidance for respective categories.
  • Assist in pricing strategy development and execution.
  • Build an ongoing awareness of industry trends.
  • Integrate products and categories across Ferguson's sales channels as needed.
  • Ensure vendor program and product information is accurate and available to Ferguson's sales and management teams.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally
  • Experience in Category/Product Management/Operations (Online and brick and mortar) is helpful.
  • Product merchandising preferred
  • Ability to analyze technical aspects and benefits of the product line
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to groups including executives
  • Ability to work with individuals and teams

Pay Range:

$3, $6,783.70


_ Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles _OR
_ Hourly for all other roles._
This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
