Staff Accountant-Full/Time

Our service delivery care model focuses on providing patient centered care, clinical excellence and supporting patients and their families at an end-of-life illness. We are currently looking for a Staff Accountant to join the United Hospice team.

Salary for this position is $75,000-$90,000 per year, and is commensurate with applicable experience. Title: Staff Accountant

Location: New City in Rockland County

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Job Description Summary:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities.

Responsibilities:

Maintain control and provide oversight of subsidiary payable and receivable ledgers.
Assist in preparation of monthly accrual schedule.
Posts all cash receipts, payroll entries and journal entries to General Ledger.
Responsible for General Ledger analysis.
Prepare 1099 reports of contract vendors and employees at year end for review by Finance Director.
Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Reconciles donations and works with the development department for proper coding of donations.
Maintains Hospice Residence private pay logs. Prepares refunds and patient correspondence as needed.
Maintains fixed assets and prepares depreciation schedules.
Prepares monthly accruals.
Prepares all Journal entries with the assistance of the Finance Director.
Posts cash as necessary.
Reconciles investment account monthly.
Accepts other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
Minimum three years of related experience required, three to five years of experience preferred.
Home care or hospice related accounting/finance experience preferred.
Proficient with ADP Workforce Now Payroll is required.
Knowledge of SAGE 100 preferred.
Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
Proficient with MS Office Suite, advanced Excel is required.
Able to correctly prepare tax reports.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
