Overall Responsibility:

The overall responsibility of the Secondary Operator is to take various molded products and trim or assemble them into finished goods within established quality and efficiency standards


Qualifications:

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Safety

  • Creates and sustains a safe work environment.
  • Following all safety requirements, including, but not limited to, required PPE.
  • Must operate forklift in a safe manner, following all safety rules
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment
  • Complete Accident Reports immediately after accident happens and notifies the required department heads including HR and Safety Chairperson.
Quality

  • Handles Customer products with care to avoid damages
  • Inspects product for conformance to quality standards.
Attendance

  • Adhere to the company's attendance policy.
Productivity

  • Pull and review work instructions prior to starting a job. Review production priorities.
  • Ensures that all necessary information and tools required for each job are in place before work begins.
  • Retrieves product for trimming or assembly and moves to designated areas when complete.
  • Finishes molded product using various methods designated for the job.

These methods include, but not limited to:

  • Use of hand and power tools.
  • Use of pallet jack.
  • Use of hot iron.
  • Use of open flame.
  • Completes product labels and ensures product is identified throughout each operation.
  • Responsible for final inspection of product and ensures that product is of good quality before shipping to the Customer.
  • Use of Secondary Reporting system to record production.
  • Must meet or exceed all training requirements including those related to ISO standards and attends scheduled shift meetings or other required meetings.
  • Meets or exceeds production targets.
Teamwork

  • Provides open communication with Supervisor and others needed to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Communicates necessary information to Supervisor and oncoming shift.
  • Exercise treating coworkers R.I.T.E. (Respect, Integrity, Trust, Effort).
Initiative

  • Offers suggestions for improvement.
  • Prioritize projects according to need and importance
  • Manage time effectively
Policies/Work Rules

  • Complies with all policies and procedures of Elkhart Plastics, Inc.
  • Complete all assigned projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Working Conditions
Able to work in hot humid environment for extended periods of time.
This job is in a typical manufacturing environment, to include, but not limited to:

  • Ovens, torches, and rotating tools
  • Forklifts and other moving machinery
  • Loud work environment
Physical Requirements
Must be able to remain stationary with intermediate walking throughout the shift.

Frequently lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds alone and parts more than 50 pounds with assistance and must be able to transport these up to 20 feet.

Frequently positions self to maneuver around the parts when finishing. Must be able to operate the hand and air tools frequently. Must be able to work overhead using hand and air tools, lift and carry parts.
