Position:
OPERATIONS MANAGER**Full-time. Requires open availability, including evenings and weekends.

Reports to Store Manager
Supervises Operations Assistant Managers & Receivers
Pay Level:
IX, exempt.

Purpose:
The Operations Manager supports the Store Manager and overall co-op management of their store operations through the effective supervision of the Operations team staff and overall store.
The Operations Manager's work supports the Store Manager in the stewardship of River Valley Co-op's overall mission of creating a just marketplace that nourishes the community and meets its triple bottom line goals of people, planet, and prosperity through the daily operations of our community-owned cooperative grocery business.
The Operations Team provides daily store supervision to support growing sales by ensuring welcoming customer experiences and effectively meeting their needs, ensuring product quality and safe food handling, customer and workplace safety, and the effective direction of staff to meet store standards and financial goals.
They will partner with Facilities Management to ensure the physical plant and equipment of the store are in good working order and maintained regularly.
In the role of Manager-on-Duty, they and their team will have a strong sales floor presence, excellent communication skills, and work in partnership with the Managers and Staff to ensure stewardship of the store operations to meet the values, mission, and goals of the co-op through- Ensuring retail excellence that provides a shopping experience that welcomes, delights, and meets customers' needs with an abundance of fresh local and organically grown foods and authentically friendly, engaging customer service.
- Building workplace teamwork for operational knowledge, skills, productivity, and empowerment.
- Building community and making the store a vibrant community hub.
- Managing operations for the safety and security of the staff, customers, and Coop property.
- Overseeing the maintenance of Coop property and equipment.
- Attention to ensuring store operations meet financial priorities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
CUSTOMER SERVICE
It is the primary responsibility of every Co-op employee to serve our customers with a friendly, welcoming shopping experience by using excellent customer service skills.
The operations manager and operations team have a leadership role in setting this tone in the store by example and supportive coaching and corrective action as needed.
When conflicts arise the Operations Management team is responsible for providing support through de-escalation and active listening as appropriate and using the code of conduct to address issues as appropriate.
STORE OPERATIONS
- Support the Store Manager in the stewardship of ensuring that the daytoday operations of the store have effective supervision to meet all store operations goals for the customer experience, workplace standards and culture, triple bottom line organizational goals, and compliance with policies and legal requirements.
