About the role
As a key contributor and hands-on Director of Payroll you will
- Oversees all facets of daily operations of the payroll department, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and company policies and regulations.
- Develop and implement payroll policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Oversee the processing of payroll for all employees, including salary, wages, bonuses, and deductions, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including withholding, reporting, and remittance requirements.
- Ensure accurate payment and reporting of employee benefits, in compliance with tax laws, federal/state regulations and company policy.
- Manage payroll audits and resolve any discrepancies or issues identified during the audit process.
- Oversee and ensure accuracy with payroll billback process.
- Stay up to date on changes in payroll laws and regulations and communicate implications to relevant stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor the payroll team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and professional development.
- Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and other departments to address payrollrelated inquiries, issues, and initiatives.
- Prepare payrollrelated reports and analysis for management and external stakeholders as needed.
Background, Experiences, and Talents
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; CPP certification preferred.
- 10 years of experience in payroll administration, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Deep understanding of payroll processes, tax laws, and regulations, including FLSA, IRS regulations, and state/local tax requirements.
- Experience with payroll billback practices and process.
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems, with experience implementing and optimizing payroll technology solutions. Experience with Paycom preferred.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex payroll issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate payrollrelated information to diverse audiences.
- Proven leadership ability, with experience managing and developing a team of payroll professionals.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality, with a commitment to maintaining the security and confidentiality of payroll data.
