- Support program managers in developing new research methodologies, concepts, and operational procedures.
- Act as a scientific and technical advisor for cutting-edge projects focused on improving tumor edge and critical anatomy visualization.
- Provide support to ARPA-H performers and scientists leveraging your expertise in medical imaging technologies and experience with commercialization strategies, pre-clinical and clinical research, and technology transfer requirements.
- Conduct strategic evaluations of methods and technologies related to the development of virtualization tools for testing and enhancement.
- Collaborate with a diverse team to translate research findings into practical applications.
- Support performers in oncology, surgery, imaging technology, and related fields to meet surgeons' visualization needs and enhance patient outcomes.
- Minimum of 12 years' experience in relevant research areas, including optical engineering and ultrasound technologies.
- Proficiency in commercialization strategies, pre-clinical and clinical research, and technology transfer.
- Demonstrated ability to independently conduct research, analyze data, and compile scientific reports.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with professionals from varied backgrounds.
- Passion for innovation and a commitment to making a tangible impact on human health.
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency.
- Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field with a focus on oncology research and development.

The Precision Surgical Interventions (PSI) program strives to ensure surgical procedures achieve their goals with precision and without the need for re-operation. It addresses two primary challenges associated with solid tumor removal: tumor edge visualization and critical anatomy visualization.
The PSI program, an innovative initiative by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), is seeking dynamic Senior Biomedical Engineers to join the team. In this essential role, you will act as a scientific and technical advisor, offering guidance and expertise to the delivery team responsible for pioneering approaches that will enhance surgeons' visualization capabilities during real-time operations.
About the PSI Program:Approximately 2 million Americans are diagnosed with cancer each year, with surgical removal often being the initial treatment option. However, visualizing tissue structures during surgery poses a challenge. While detailed medical imaging may be available pre-surgery, tools allowing surgeons to view nerves, blood vessels, and lymph ducts during the operation are lacking. The PSI program aims to address this gap by supporting the development of technologies and devices to enhance cancer localization, identification of healthy structures, and overall surgical outcomes.
