Position Purpose:


The Program Aid/Driver provides support to the Program Director, Activity Coordinator, and RN across all facets of the ADHC program.

This includes aiding in scheduling, attendance tracking, and managing nutritional aspects of the program. They contribute to coordinating and overseeing arts & crafts activities, recreational events, music therapy, and addressing personal hygiene requirements. Additionally, the Program Aide/Van Driver assists in maintaining accurate records of the daily activities within the ADHC program.

Depending on their specific responsibilities, daily oversight of the Program Aides may be assigned by the Director to either the Activity Coordinator or the ADHC Program Nurse.


Responsibilities:


  • Supports the Director, Nurse, and Activity Coordinator of ADHC, under the supervision of the Activities Coordinator, and reports directly to the Director regarding all aspects of care.
  • Assists with the nutritional aspect of the program by reporting the number of meals needed for lunch, participant intake, and addressing eating problems.
  • Prepares and serves snacks and meals, including assisting participants with food cutting and feeding when necessary, as well as assisting with personal hygiene tasks and toileting schedules.
  • Implements and supervises arts and crafts projects and recreational activities.
  • Maintains inventory of all supplies and consumables for the program, including art supplies, personal hygiene items, and paper goods, and reports inventory needs to the Activity Coordinator.
  • Contributes to the organization and execution of special events for the ADHC.
  • Assists participants in arrival and departure, ensuring their safe transportation.
  • Implements the program and ensures the safety of all participants at all times, even outside regular staff hours or in the absence of the Activity Director.
  • Reports any complaints or concerns related to staff, volunteers, or participants to the Program Director.
  • Collaborates with Nurse and Rehabilitation Staff in implementing any maintenance programs.
  • Drives the company van to pick up and drop off participants as needed.
  • Maintains a current valid California Driver's License and reports vehicle maintenance to the Director via the daily "Vehicle Maintenance Log," as well as reporting any misuse/lost/stolen company gas card.
  • Assists with marketing activities as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Familiarizes oneself with all Department Policies and Procedures (P&P's) and adheres to Safety, Fire, Infection Control, and Mandatory Reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Minimum of two years' experience working in an adult day care center or a related field.
  • Training in activities for the elderly or certification as a nurse's aide.
  • Maintains a valid California Driver's License.
  • Exhibits familiarity with Safety, Fire, Infection Control, and Mandatory Reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of challenges faced by the frail elderly.
  • Sensitivity toward elderly individuals with impairments and their caregivers.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with volunteers and other team members, while also taking initiative.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma.
  • Certification as a Nurse's Aide or Medical Assistant preferred
  • Strongly recommended completion of a 36hour Activity Certificate preferred.
  • Physical capability to consistently lift at least 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Proficiency in bending, kneeling, squatting, standing, and walking, while being physically capable of both executing required tasks and assisting frail elderly and disabled adults when necessary.
