Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Coordinator - Data Catalog.


This individual will report to the Head of Data Sharing and Metadata Management and will be a member of the librarys Data Services Team, which offers support, consultations, and training to researchers.

As part of the Librarys Data Services Team, the Data Catalog Coordinator will collaborate with colleagues on additional tasks and projects as needed.

The NYU Health Sciences Library supports the mission and vision of the NYU Langone Medical Center and related health sciences communities, and is at the forefront of research data management in health sciences libraries.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement methods to identify datasets for inclusion in the Data Catalog.
  • Plan, conduct, and document outreach initiatives to researchers and other relevant stakeholders on the Data Catalog, data sharing, or other open science initiatives.
  • Create, curate, and maintain accurate metadata for datasets.
  • Assist researchers with submitting metadata for datasets.
  • Refine and enter metadata for datasets.
  • Assist researchers in finding solutions for their data sharing, storage, and transfer needs.
  • Participate in research projects and contribute to manuscripts related to the data cataloging, curation, and sharing and open science.
  • Other duties within the Data Services Team and the Library as assigned.
  • Serve on library committees and task forces as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills.

Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.

Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently. Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure. Ability to Project/Program manage and to multi task while paying attention to details.


Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with research culture and processes (e.g., roles on a study team, researcher attitudes towards data sharing)
Ability to interact effectively with researchers for one-on-one consultations.
Documented ability to plan, organize, and implement outreach activities in an academic or other relevant setting.
Documented ability to work independently and in teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong understanding of metadata.
MLS or other graduate degree (e.g. MPH, graduate-level science degree).
Awareness of data storage and data sharing options for biomedical researchers.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.

The salary range for the role is $62, $65,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.

The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
