Description and Scope
The mission of Yakima Chief Hops' data science department is to create and maintain data science and analytics tools that enable and encourage our employees, growers, and brewing partners to leverage data in their decision making. Our work enables a data-driven culture that helps make YCH the global hop supplier of choice, and helps to connect family hop farms with the world's finest brewers, providing the highest quality hop products and uncompromising service for the ultimate benefit of our customers, employees and growers.
A data science internship provides opportunities for aspiring data-engineers, -scientists and -analysts to learn and apply analytical and problem-solving skills to real business applications. As an intern you'll be assigned at least one independent project and one collaborative project in areas such as:
An example of a data analytics project would require an intern to create a new information dashboard in a business intelligence application such as Power BI or Tableau. You will interact with internal customers to gather business requirements and IT to determine data source systems. You will identify the data sources required and implement a software solution that meets the business requirements, gather feedback from the different stakeholders after a period of testing, and adjust the solution if necessary.
