Position Type: Part-Time / Full-Time

Reports To: Club Director / Site Coordinator

Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks for youth in a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment. This position supports the Club's mission by ensuring members receive healthy food that meets program guidelines and promotes wellness.

Key Responsibilities Meal Preparation & Service

  • Prepare and serve daily meals and snacks following approved menus and nutrition guidelines.
  • Ensure food is ready and served on schedule.
  • Accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions as directed.
  • Maintain portion control to ensure all members are served.

Food Safety & Sanitation

  • Follow all local health department regulations and food safety standards.
  • Maintain clean kitchen, storage, and serving areas.
  • Properly store food and monitor temperatures of refrigerators and freezers.
  • Complete required sanitation logs and inspections.

Inventory & Ordering

  • Maintain accurate inventory of food and kitchen supplies.
  • Notify supervisor when supplies are low.
  • Minimize waste and practice cost-effective food usage.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Follow CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) guidelines if applicable.
  • Maintain required meal count records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with state and organizational policies.

Team & Club Support

  • Maintain a positive and respectful environment for youth and staff.
  • Communicate effectively with staff regarding schedules, menus, and needs.
  • Assist with special events and club programs when needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in food preparation or institutional cooking preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to lift 15-30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain).

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Interaction with children and staff daily.
  • Standing, lifting, bending, and repetitive tasks required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift food boxes and supplies.
  • Ability to work in a warm kitchen environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 22 – 30 per week

Work Location: In person
