- Plan and develop health education program outlines incorporating various learning techniques and formats (i.e. group discussion, lecture, role play, etc.)
- Develop and design promotion of health education events and programs; distribute throughout the campus community
- Present new and existing health education programs to campus and student groups in the residence halls and other campus and surrounding community locations
- Conduct appropriate research for health programs utilizing various resources both on and off campus (i.e. library database, internet, Wellness Center staff, community and campus organizations)
- Assist in the design and utilization of program evaluation and needs assessment tools, work with various focus groups
- Participate in the development and design of passive health care programming (i.e. bulletin boards, brochures, web pages, etc.)
- Assist in the Wellness Center/Center for Health Education and Promotion surveys and special projects
- Networking with professors, other professionals and other students in creating opportunities conducive for health education programming and preventative health messages
- Assist in development and execution of various health awareness days/weeks on campus, e.g. Sexual Violence Awareness Week, Breast Cancer Awareness Days, and Great American Smokeout.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong interest and experience in being an advocate for preventive health in a diverse student population
- Awareness of cross-cultural health issues, both mental and physical, that are particularly relevant to college students
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; Bilingual preferred
- Empathy and a well-developed ethical framework, particularly an awareness of the importance of confidentiality within the Wellness Center
- Previous experience working in a team environment
- Creative use of current technologies, i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, social media, web-based research and some knowledge of video editing
- Commit to Regular Work Hours and have some flexibility for evening events
- Ability to work independently, be a "self-starter
- Must be eligible for US employment
- Must be enrolled as an undergraduate, degree-seeking student at Dominican Univeristy
