Minimum Qualifications:


High school diploma or GED; bachelor's degree in criminal justice/public administration or related field is preferred; three years of relevant experience in a court/legal environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience in a court/legal environment.

Demonstrated skills in oral/written communication; multi-tasking in fast-paced environment; meeting tight deadlines; attention to detail; public relations/customer service; utilization of state-of-the-art technology and work proficiency.

Duties:


  • The Circuit Court Clerk's Office is the administrative arm of the Circuit Court. Our daytoday operations significantly impact our Chesterfield community.
  • We are looking to expand our Probate team with a dedicated and caring professional having three or more years of experience in a court/legal environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Exceptional people skills are a must, as a large part of what we do is supply information, assistance, and support to customers who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one. Probate or estate administration can feel confusing or overwhelming, so clear and kind communication is essential.

Responsibilities:


  • Conduct appointments to probate Wills and qualify fiduciaries
  • Maintain an attitude of compassion and helpfulness while also exercising high levels of discretion/confidentiality
  • Calculate and collect appropriate fees/taxes
  • Compile and proofread the Will and Bond Book indices
  • Serve as a liaison to the Commissioner of Accounts and the County's Tax Assessor
  • Perform other duties and special projects as necessary
Customer service hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and standard employee shift schedules are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., though flex scheduling is available. Due to the nature of the service we provide, telework is not an option.

This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
