- Works with SAP scheduling controls and in conjunction with the Production Scheduling function to ensure that schedules are developed which meet customer needs while maximizing production efficiencies (i.e. minimization of mold changes and downtime).
- Coordinates and directs the activities of shift production supervisors to develop and promote maximum operating effectiveness across all shifts.
- Tracks production figures, labor, efficiencies, downtime, preform consumption and MIR on a regular basis. Identifies operational trends and issues and recommends actions to effectively address problems and capitalize on opportunities.
- Controls spending and variances on departmental budget line items to ensure that budgeted items are being accomplished within time and budget constraints.
- Responsible for skills development and cross-training of production supervisors, operators (one-step, two-step and injection) and technicians in order to increase knowledge base and flexibility within the production function.
- Coordinate staffing/personnel requirements across productions shifts, including vacations, manning, employee evaluations, etc.
- Ensure that all safety programs and procedures are being followed and implemented in a timely manner.
- Communicates with Operations Manager to keep aware of issues taking place in the production area.
- May be assigned other projects and tasks by the Operations Manager as necessary.

Production Manager
Salary Grade: 16
Basic Function:
Directs and coordinates activities of the day to day production operations at the plant level to ensure maximum efficiency and plant performance. Drives effectiveness in the production function by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position reports directly to the Operations Manager. Incumbent will directly supervise four salaried Production Supervisors and hourly Master Process Technicians.
Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related field and five to seven years of relevant manufacturing experience. Prior experience in plastic processes is strongly preferred.
Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communications skills required. Ability to write effective reports and business correspondence is required. Incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and be able to effectively communicate across various levels of the organization.
Technical Skills: Strong mathematical abilities are required for this position, including probability and statistics inference, fundamentals of geometry, trigonometry, and statistics. Strong process knowledge in blow molding and/or injection molding is preferred.
Reason: Incumbent must have the ability to analyze and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
