- Submit corrected claims in a timely fashion.
- Timely processing of appeals.
- Address inquiries from insurance companies, patients, and providers.
- Submit insurance/patient refunds promptly.
- Thoroughly analyze accounts.
- Recognize trends specific to payers.
- Report known issues to Management.
- Contribute to the prevention of fraud and abuse.
- Engage in educational activities and stay updated on coding and billing changes.
- Keep Management informed of any insurance carrier Medical Coverage Policy updates.
- Arrange payment plans for patient balances.
- Undertake special projects as delegated.
- Preserve strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other related duties that enhance the role through Continuous Quality Improvement.
- Act as a mentor for new Employees.
- Proficient in communicating with patients, including up-to-date knowledge of medications and procedures.
- Skilled in relevant computer applications.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of billing experience.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to prioritize work based on A/R Aging reports.
- Knowledge of medical billing practices and office procedures.
- Understanding of medical terminology and coding.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and basic math.
- Customer service oriented with excellent communication skills.
