The Board of Supervisors have authorized the following future salary increases:

***Contra Costa Health is offering an excellent career opportunity for qualified individuals interested in the Public Health Program Specialist I position. There are currently three (3) vacancies in Health Services Department.

  • Two in the Family, Maternal, and Child Health (FMCH) Program located in Concord, CA.
  • One in the Linguistic Access Services (LAS) located in Martinez, CA.
The incumbent will be required to occasionally travel to different locations throughout Contra Costa County.

Family, Maternal and Child Health (FMCH) is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of families and children through innovative partnerships with families, community members, county programs, and community-based organizations.

To accomplish this mission, our work involves collecting and analyzing data to identify high priority needs, develop, implement, and evaluate programs designed to improve health outcomes, and provide training and technical assistance to groups throughout the county on issues of perinatal health.

The Linguistic Access Services (LAS) program

provide specially trained interpreters to assist patients and health care providers to communicate with each other in the preferred language during the provision of care, when making medical appointments, receiving health care information or when discussing billing or health related financial information.

What you will typically be responsible for:

  • Providing supervision, technical assistance and consultation to program staff
  • Establishing, reviewing, evaluating, implementing and interpreting program policy to ensure compliance with State and Federal program mandates
  • Identifying urgent needs for program services and making appropriate referrals
  • Meeting with other professional staff members and community organizations
  • Serving as liaison with funding authority and/or division fiscal staff regarding program financial issue
  • Planning, implementing and/or supervising educational outreach activities and developing program informational material for distribution to schools, organizations, community groups and the general public
