- Coordinate the shipment of trash, bulk recyclables, scrap wood, universal waste, and non-hazardous waste.
- Schedule loads
- Prepare and file necessary paperwork
- Record data by building in Solid Waste Report, FEL Report, and Monthly Invoice Template
- Prepare and file paperwork for scrap metal and recycled paper shipments as above
- Coordinate maintenance and/or replacement of compactors as required
- Respond to site wide requests and inquiries in relation to solid waste
- Document and inform applicable personnel regarding contamination in plant's recycling containers
- Present viable recycling options to the facility
- Review, verify, and approve/deny vendor invoices
- Create Purchase orders as required
- Respond to chemical spill incidents by covering drains, placing absorbents on liquids, and coordinating spill cleanup activities with technicians
- Perform weekly inspections of waste storage areas (satellite and 90 day rooms) and emergency equipment, taking corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during the inspection
- Maintain necessary documentation of waste inventories, sample information, inspections and other activities as required
- Prepare labels, signs, shippers, and other paperwork as needed
- Assist in presenting annual site RCRA/SPCC training and quarterly business reviews
- Actively participate in corporate, regulatory agency, and environmental audits as needed
- Compose, update, and comply with all applicable Task Instruction Sheets and Pre-Task Plans
- Obey all plant- related safety guidelines
- Follow verbal and written instructions, as directed by Regional Manager
- Perform other assigned duties, as required
- Bachelors' degree or equivalent
- Excellent organizational, customer service, vendor management, and financial skills
- Experience in implementing recycling and waste minimization programs
- Two years of work experience
- Associate's degree or equivalent certification in Environmental Sciences or Hazardous Material Management and one year experience in hazardous waste management and/or wastewater monitoring activities; or,
- Three years' experience in hazardous waste management and/or wastewater monitoring activities; or,
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Superior interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Familiarity with automotive facilities or large campus service needs
- Current 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) with Annual Refresher (desired); will provide upon hire
- Current Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA, desired); will provide upon hire
- Current 40-hour Department of Transportation (DOT, desired); will provide upon hire
