    Minimum 1+ years interpreting experience required.

    6518632We are seeking a fluent licensed Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in Port Orchard, WA. You will play an essential role in facilitating effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their teachers.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare for classes by reviewing curriculum materials in advance
    • Familiarize yourself with the subject matter to ensure accurate interpretation
    • Provide sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and discussions
    • Ensure clear and effective communication between students and teachers
    • Serve as a support system for students, clarifying concepts and reinforcing academic understanding
    • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure the learning environment is inclusive and accessible
    • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
    • Keep accurate records and documentation of interpreting services provided

    Qualifications:

    • Valid and active Georgia license as a Sign Language Interpreter
    • RID Certification
    • Strong knowledge of academic subject matter and educational settings
    • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and preferences
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Respect for diversity and cultural differences
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an educational team
