    Summary:

    The job of SUMMER SCHOOL - CLERICAL OFFICE/HEALTH ASSISTANT is a classified support position that provides clerical and health room support within the main office at Marcus Whitman for the High School Summer Academy program and done for the purpose of supporting and maintaining a safe environment for our schools.


    The Summer School will take place from June 24, 2024, through July 19, 2024, with no Summer School on July 4, 2024.

    Instruction will occur on a Monday through Thursday schedule from 8:30 - 1:00 PM. at Marcus Whitman Middle School campus and Discovery.


    The selected candidate will work a minimum of 90 hours to meet the needs of this program and will be compensated at the Schedule A Range II of the
    PSE Salary rate.

    The tentative required commitment of hours is outlined as follows:


    • Days of Student Instruction = 64 hours (12 days of student instruction x 4.0-hour commitment per day)
    • Preparation/Additional Hours = 26 hours (to be scheduled with Summer School Principal for preparation, additional daily hours, data reporting, etc.)

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provides direct support to the Summer School Supervisor.
    • Communicates with staff and parent/guardians related to schedules, materials, site protocols, etc.
    • Maintains records (e.g. calendars, student records, office files, supply, and equipment inventories) for the purpose of providing accurate information, documentation and adequate supplies and equipment.
    • Responds to emergency or other health-related situations for the purpose of meeting student health care needs.
    • Contact parent/guardian regarding illness or injury and provide information to parent.
    • Maintains attendance records including communication with parent/guardians and nurse related to student symptom protocols.
    • Dispense medication as needed.
    • Monitors students in the waiting room.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Familiar with SKSD Emergency Management Protocols (lock down, etc.)

    Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

    Generally, the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.


    Education and Experience:

    • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Job related experience desired.

    Clearances:

    • Washington State Patrol and FBI Fingerprint Background Clearance.

    Certificates:

    • Required to have a current First Aid/CPR/AED card and training for HIV/AIDS procedures.
