Primary Purpose:

To provide teachers with instructional coaching, training, and support that is aligned with district curriculum and
standards. The primary role of the Instructional Coach is to positively impact student achievement. This will be
accomplished by participating in continuous campus & district improvement efforts and by supporting teachers as they
provide targeted instruction and interventions for students.


Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):

Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field; valid Texas Teacher Certificate; five years of teaching experience;
Bilingual, Math, or ELAR certification preferred.


Program Funds Consideration:

Funding for this position is contingent upon the availability of grant funds. The position may be funded on a year-to-year
basis based on the district needs assessment and availability of supplemental funds.


Major Responsibilities:


Provides coaching to instructional staff which includes, but is not limited to

  • Demonstrate a specific strategy in classroom
  • Discuss the session with teacher
  • Assist teacher in planning lessons using the strategy
  • Collaborate with teacher to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategy
  • Assist in classroom as teacher tries new strategies
  • Hold follow-up conferences with teacher
  • Observe instruction
  • Provide targeted feedback

Professional Learning

  • Collaborate with campus administration to identify teacher needs and support campus-based instructional
priorities
Present and/or facilitate professional learning in large and small group settings which may include:

  • Strategies for working with students in at-risk situations
  • Classroom management, Curriculum implementation
  • New teacher support, Differentiation ideas; core curriculum assistance
  • Instructional strategies and resources

Other

  • Attend regular training/coordination meetings with the Department of Curriculum and Innovation.
  • Assist teachers in analyzing academic achievement data and other tools to formulate instructional plans.
  • Assist teachers in implementing effective intervention plans for students.
  • Work, in collaboration with PfISD Curriculum and Innovation Department, to facilitate district instructional
initiatives.

  • Attend regular district professional learning and other trainings to stay current in educational best practices.
  • Deliver district supported professional learning and participates in appropriate curriculum writing projects.
  • Follow the Educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction Skill in effectively managing a classroom and- Knowledge of acceptable coaching practices student behavior

  • Knowledge of teacher evaluation methods Skill in modifying instruction for various student
  • Knowledge of effective instructional practices needs
  • Skill in communicating effectively with others Skill in working with computer tools, including but
  • Skill in using assessment results to shape instruction spreadsheets
  • Skill in working in collaborative teambased
environments


Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):
Maintain emotional control under stress. Prolonged use of computer; work regularly requires work outside the normal
workweek; coordination of multiple projects; must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry at least 30 lbs.; work with
frequent interruptions.
