SUMMARY
Individual will manage and direct automated production machinery within assigned areas including optimal operations, machine efficiencies, training and development.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Ensure that all PSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met.

Accomplished human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.


Support training programs to ensure employees are properly trained in equipment safety lock out - tag out, product quality and efficiencies.


Maintain functional and reliability of systems and equipment by recommending and supporting preventive maintenance programs, calibration, FAT's (factory acceptance testing) and performance.

Develop in cooperation with production and maintenance (Standard Operating Procedures) SOP's to assure longevity of equipment.

Assisting and recommending capital planning, proposals, expenditure records and cost improvement projects.

Develop and maintain service agreements with OEM's and subcontractors.

Review equipment logs and pre-op inspections for performance trends within the established machine expectations.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications, seminars and specialized OEM training programs.

Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, machinery capacities and capabilities to assure safe and efficient performance.

Implement quality control procedures to resolve production problems and minimize costs.

Coordinate activities and production planning to ensure that products meet quality standards within design specifications.

Analysis and develop action plans to assure optimal machine efficiencies; analyze and implement plans, reduce man hours.

Support new ship project development in coordination with Design, Planning, Maintenance and Production.

Generate and issue machinery performance reports.

Responsible for developing certifying machine operator training programs.

Develop a sustainable operator training matrix to support current requirements, future and cross training.

Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
GED or equivalent and 2+ years of technical training in machine design, industrial maintenance and automation and PLC's. (BS degree preferred.)

Minimum 5 years' industrial and/or relevant engineering experience in large scale heavy steel operations.

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Leadership, interpersonal, communication and team building skills.

Ability to perform machine design

Ability analysis and trouble shoot issues

Ability to lead capex projects related to machinery upgrades and new processes.


Ability to develop and effectively lead the "automation organization" through increasing own and team knowledge, workforce skills and performance, mentoring and team building for a measurable effect on overall production performance.

Knowledge of automated welding processes, plasma and oxy fuel cutting and PLC's.

OEM certifications and experience preferred in: Kranendonk - Rinas software, Messer - OmniBevel, PEMA - Motoman robotics, ABB robotics, Other applicable manufacturers


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke.

Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.
