Are you a dynamic communicator with a passion for strategic outreach and public relations? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where you can make a real impact? We are seeking a talented individual to serve as our Department Public Information Officer, responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing communication, marketing and public relations programs within our Electric Utility Department.

As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with department leaders to develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies, manage crisis communication efforts, and oversee the creation of engaging content and graphics for various campaigns and communication channels.

This role offers the opportunity to showcase your creativity, leadership skills, and expertise in building positive relationships with stakeholders while promoting our department's mission and initiatives.

The current vacancy is regular, full-time, and benefitted.

The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm; occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

A flex/hybrid schedule may be available.

Minimum Qualifications:


EXPERIENCE
AND TRAINING


Experience:


  • Four years of increasingly responsible experience in public relations, communications, or program implementation, preferably for a public agency or municipality, including one year of technical and functional supervision.

AND

Training:


  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with major course work in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, business administration, public administration or a related field.

License or Certificate:


  • Possession of a California driver's license by date of appointment.
  • Possession of a California Office of Emergency Services' Crisis Communication certificate is highly desirable.
