Full Time - Day Shift 7pm-7:30am rotating shift with every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Off.

RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive)

  • Observes, reports, and documents patient conditions and behaviors, every 15 minutes or as prescribed by Doctor's orders.
  • Observes patients for signs and symptoms of disease, injury, reactions to medications, or other
conditions that warrant medical intervention.

  • Monitors patients and environment to provide for individual safety and health.
  • Intervenes in psychiatric emergencies using approved techniques, including Crisis Prevention Intervention/Deescalation
  • Taking vital signs. These include checking temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate. Document these numbers and alert the nurse or doctor if something seems amiss.
  • Physically attend to patients, which includes turning them on their sides in bed, helping them get up and walk to the lavatory, bathing and dressing them, and generally helping them to move around.
  • Bringing patients their meals. Some patients might need to have their food and drink intakes monitored. It is usually the MHT's role to take note of how much or how little their patient takes in. Consequently, it's also the CNA's duty to monitor the patient's urine or fecal output, if needed.
  • Answering patients' calls. Sometimes, a patient will just need help sitting up or opening their pack of pudding. A MHT will provide these small conveniences for them. Technical expertise and skills are critical to being a MHT but a warm human touch is sometimes all that a patient needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

Previous experience in health care as a Mental Health Technician for a busy facility required

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English required

BLS (CPR) Certification required through AHA or American Red Cross required
:

CPI Certification (obtained through employer before working on floor) or Current CPI Certification required
:

Ability to stand/walk for up 12 hours (this is a busy position with little sitting
). required.
