How you will make an impact:
As an Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will join the new product and technology development team within our R&D department.
We are a group of dedicated scientists and engineers working to design, implement, test, and validate innovative instruments used in measuring trace contaminants in ambient air and process gas streams.
The successful candidate will have a clear understanding of electronic instrumentation, data collection and hardware control systems, and will also appreciate how on-line analyzers can drive our customers' efforts to improve environmental quality and process efficiencyWhat you will do:
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to design and test instrumentation used in detection and measurement of air pollution and for analysis of process gases.
Contribute to design of electrical and software system architecture.
Collect and analyze laboratory test data, refine product designs, and participate in field evaluations of our new products.
How will you get here?
Education
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Computer or Systems Engineering, or in a related field with a focus on instrumentation and embedded systems is required.
Three years of related research and development experience with a Bachelor's degree, or one year of experience with a Master's degree.
Experience using computer-based data acquisition and test systems, such National Instruments DAQ modules, for data collection and hardware control.
Experience using Python and/or high-level programming tools such as LabView, Mathematica, or MATLAB for automated data collection and analysis.
Hands on experience using test equipment, like oscilloscopes and function generators.
Experience working with C++ would be beneficial.
Classroom training or experience in analytical chemistry, chemometrics or statistics will be helpful, but is not required.
A positive demeanor, excellent communication and problem-solving skills are required.
