_This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time offer._

NATURE OF WORK

  • Under mínimal supervision, performs advanced technical and legal services assisting attorneys in case examination, data analysis, and the production and presentation of evidence for litigation purposes; assists with the supervision of paralegal staff and provides paralegal expertise in legal research and legal document preparation; this position has department specific responsibility.

- (Illustrative Only) _Provides technical guidance and assistance to attorneys with evidence management, the use of trial litigation tools, and the analysis of case data; informs attorneys of issues that may affect the division and provides positive leadership and assists with supervision of paralegal staff; provides training and direction to paralegal staff when needed; establishes and recommends division policies and procedures for paralegal resources; stays updated with law changes or other matters pertaining to civil or criminal issues; provides technical assistance of the office's case management systems, office productivity tools, and litigation support software; monitors, maintains and provides support for case management systems and litigation support software; researches legal questions, case law decisions, and statutes; prepares legal recommendations; prepares and proofs legal documents such as briefs, petitions, motions, affidavits, and other documents for use by attorneys; assists prosecutors with translation of victim/witness interviews either at time of interview or translation/transcription of audio/video recording; summarizes depositions, interviews, interrogatories, and other case documents to assist attorneys with case handling; conducts interviews and investigations; participates with attorneys in pretrial preparation; coordinates and monitors assigned projects; serves copies of pleadings to opposing counsel; delivers documents to various county offices; coordinates activities with other offices and agencies; prepares and assembles discovery requests and answers; Gathers information for prosecution and litigation; prepares written and oral reports for internal and external audiences; tracks legal documents, and routes to defendants, attorneys and courts for processing; maintains, tracks, and updates legal information; prepares, develops, compiles and maintains jury instructions in preparing for trial; reviews and verifies case documentation for completeness and accuracy of information; acts as liaison for attorney to the court, law enforcement agencies, various entities, clients and the general public; custodian of records; develops and secures evidence and documentation, coordinates court notes and exhibits for trial; establishes and maintains complex files related to criminal and civil cases; provides a wide range of legal support and administrative duties; provides information and assistance within the scope of designated authority; responsible for processing incoming as well as outgoing out-of-state subpoenas; may assist and train staff with various technical issues; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.


Experience and Education:


  • Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Paralegal Studies or Certificate in Paralegal Studies or closely related field; AND six(6) years of responsible experience in system administrator in a legal office setting, to include one (1) year of progressively responsible supervisory experience. Certification as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal required within (1) year of appointment. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires successful completion of a background check.

Hourly rate for this position has been revised effective 3/4/24.

  • Ability to: Analyze, understand, interpret court cases; train and lead staff; communicate effectively; read, write, research and synthesize data; use office equipment and computers; lift up to lbs.; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation; learn and adapt to current and future technologies, processes and procedures including databases, digital evidence editing techniques, trial presentation and litigation software, and other office productivity
