    Staff Software Engineer - Customer Identity Access Management

    The Customer Identity Access Management team (CIAM) at Fastly focuses on developing solutions that enable customers to securely collect, organize, and manage user identities and profile data centrally. By providing seamless access control mechanisms, advanced authentication methods, and a consolidated identity, the team helps customers regulate user access to applications and services within their organizations. Fastly is currently seeking a highly motivated full-stack staff software engineer to join this dynamic team. The role involves working on various areas such as role-based access control, single sign-on (SSO), and Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML).     What You'll Do:
    • Lead the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of applications related to Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) systems and solutions
    • Collaborate with engineers across the organization to implement the authentication and authorization strategy
    • Take ownership of features from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with product requirements
    • Work closely with engineering leaders to establish and execute project designs, engineering, and security standards
    • Effectively communicate with peers and partners to manage expectations
    • Participate in on-call rotations
    What We're Looking For:
    • Hands-on experience in Go and/or Ruby development
    • Front-end development proficiency using React and TypeScript
    • Strong understanding of service-oriented architectures, microservices, and design patterns
    • Familiarity with authentication technologies such as JWT and OIDC
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively in distributed teams across different time zones
    • Experience in service-to-service communication
    We'll be particularly impressed if you have experience in:
    • CIAM solutions like SSO, SAML, OAuth, and SCIM
    • Microfrontend architecture
    • Developing authentication and authorization products, especially authorization frameworks for applications
    • Security-focused products like Rate Limiting and DDoS mitigation
    Work Hours:
    • This position may require availability during core business hours, occasional nights, and weekends due to on-call responsibilities
    Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements:

    This role is open to both hybrid and remote candidates. Preferred hybrid locations include San Francisco, CA, New York, NY, and Denver, CO. Fastly follows a hybrid model for most positions, allowing employees flexibility between office and remote work. Qualified remote candidates within the United States will also be considered. Some travel may be necessary as per the role requirements.

    Salary:

    The estimated base salary range for this position is competitive, starting from $181,220 to $226,520. Salary variations may occur based on relevant factors like experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This role may also offer participation in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus programs.
