Job Summary and Qualifications:


What qualifications you will need:

  • If qualified, operates the compression chamber(s) and supporting components and maintains operating, maintenance, and safety logs and other required documentation as specified in departmental policy.
  • Carries out hyperbaric oxygen treatment protocols as prescribed by the hyperbaric physician and actively participates in patient teaching pertaining to HBO treatments.
  • Observes patients and the hyperbaric systems during the course of hyperbaric oxygen treatments, reports unusual occurrences and records appropriate entries in the medical record.
  • Prepares the hyperbaric chamber equipment and materials needed for patients undergoing treatment.
  • Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse responses in patients within the department and hyperbaric environment.
  • Maintains a safe environment in the hyperbaric chamber and/or department for patients and staff members.
  • Assists with the transport of patients.
  • Assists in wound care under the direct supervision of the hyperbaric physician(s) and/or nurses to the level of his/her training.
  • Maintains the department and hyperbaric chamber in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Processes equipment used in the hyperbaric environment and/or department.
  • Identifies equipment/supplies used in the department and assists in maintaining appropriate inventory levels.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Specific documented training and/or experience in emergency medicine or acute medical care, preferably in a clinical hyperbaric medicine facility.
  • Specific documented training and/or experience in compression chamber operations and certification as a Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) is preferred.
  • Possesses an interest in the selfdevelopment of his/her role in a health care setting.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform behaviors as outlined in the Position Summary.
  • Possesses ability to physically meet the working conditions required of the job.
  • BLS certification required at hire date.
  • 1 year experience preferred
