A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BUSINESS DEVELOPER


As a Business Developer of Insurance Sales, you will pursue new business development initiatives and processes to drive both wallet share from existing insurance clients while growing insurance book of business.

These responsibilities include actively participating in industry-specific associations, pipeline management, strategy development, understanding and executing on annual revenue targets, analyzing business opportunities, identifying priority prospects, creating compelling presentations, and participating in the business development proposal process.

You will partner closely with both fellow insurance vertical members as well as across vertical lines to ensure overall company success.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute short and longterm sales plans
  • Maintain personal sales efforts through the continued development of your book of business
  • Attract and connect with new prospects, create proposals, respond to RFPs, and facilitate and close new business
  • Research a customer's existing facility solutions/programs and schedule a bid walk of the facility with the prospect
  • Include Operations teams in strategic and financial planning/execution
  • Own the information base on your prospective clients
  • Establish a diverse network of relationships by positioning yourself within the insurance vertical as a leader in your field
  • Include people of influence within our industry, key community partners, strategic partners, and prospective clients as a resource for extending your book of business
  • Maintain database for the vertical using Salesforce
  • Effectively manage your sales pipeline
  • Monitor bid schedules by understanding the competition in the marketplace
  • Actively participate in training initiatives to enhance and develop performance
  • Assist the company with competitive intelligence
  • Negotiate contracts, close the deal, and manage the transition to Operations to ensure the proposal commitments are delivered

QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and computer skills

Behavioral Qualifications:

  • History of participation and success on a team
  • Effectively use leadership skills to impact, shape, or redirect the behaviors of others
  • Possess a genuine desire and ability to discover the changing needs of clients and respond accordingly with solutions that target those needs
  • Successfully building alliances and influencing key decision makers at all levels
  • Competitive drive and determination with focus on results orientation
  • Research and obtain market awareness of industry and client
  • Proven financial and technical acumen to understand needs and develop proposals
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Develop and execute sales processes through indirect/direct influence

Experience:


  • Proven track record of initiating and successfully driving new business partnerships
  • Demonstrate strategic sales planning and methodologies
  • Ability to qualify accounts and move them into the sales pipeline as true prospects while focusing on the opportunities that have the most strategic and financial impact for the company
  • Ability to develop and manage pipeline of opportunities and convert prospects to clients
  • Consistent track record of meeting and exceeding revenue goals
  • Demonstrated strategic and analytical sales approach with focus on building trust and meaningful relationships with senior level clients
  • Success in building alliances and influencing key decision makers within the client organization
  • Demonstrated thought leadership in solving strategic and operational business problems
  • BA/BS highly preferred

REQUIREMENTS

  • Position requires flexibility to travel 4050%, including overnight
  • Valid Driver's license required
