Job Duties

Our mission is to provide high quality acute psychiatric evaluation, crisis stabilization, and intensive short-term treatment that empowers children and their families to make developmentally appropriate choices and that strengthens children's hope, resilience and self-esteem.

Commonwealth Center for Children & Adolescents (CCCA) is seeking RNs to provide age-specific nursing care to child and adolescent psychiatric patients in a safe, therapeutic environment using the least restrictive measures necessary.

The role of the RN is to work closely with other members of a multidisciplinary treatment team to provide collaborative trauma-informed psychiatric care to their assigned patients, prioritizing care according to patient acuity, and managing changes in patient behavior and/or physical condition as part of the treatment team.

RNs utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, and document such care and patients' response in accordance with policy and HIPAA regulations.

RNs are actively involved in admission, discharge, and transfer of patients, and provide patient and family education based on identified needs.

Responsibilities include supervising, supporting, and working collaboratively with Direct Care Staff.
This position carries a highly competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working as Registered Nurse.
  • Must successfully complete BLS, TOVA and other required training upon employment
  • Must successfully complete and maintain competencies.
Presents effective interpersonal communication skills, team focused care and a professional appearance /approach.

  • Presents the ability to assess plan, implement and evaluate care utilizing knowledge of pharmacology, psychiatric and physical disorders, cultural needs of the psychiatric patient.
  • Presents good clinical knowledge and resource to staff.
  • Experience or ability to delegate, supervise, evaluate and problem solve.
  • Registered nursing licensure or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Current, Virginia license to practice as a Registered Nurse or license eligible; multistate compact endorsement is accepted.
